How Can Food Sensitivities Cause All These Problems?
Food sensitivities develop when incompletely digested proteins from the food we eat pass through our intestinal wall and enter our bloodstream. (This can happen when we have something called “leaky gut,” a byproduct of our stressful lives, poor food choices, medications, poor digestion, and more.)
Then, our immune system identifies these protein particles as foreign and mounts an immune response by releasing a swarm of compounds (called IgG4 antibodies) to attack the foreign invaders (called antigens). This immune response is an inflammatory process that can cause reactions at various sites in the body and result in some or ALL of the symptoms listed above.
Some of the sites where this can occur are the small and large intestines, skin, kidneys, ears, sinuses, head, lungs, and joints. Since IgG4 reactions occur several hours or even days later, there may be no obvious association between consuming a food and an adverse reaction. This is why it can be so difficult (if not impossible) to identify which foods are causing the problem—that is, unless you test. How Does the Food Sensitivity Profile Work?
The Food Sensitivity Profile works by measuring levels of IgG4 antibodies specific to 30 commonly offending foods. Your results will indicate exactly which foods your immune system is reacting to, and the degree of severity (mild, moderate or severe).

Q: I live outside of California. Can I do this test?
A: Absolutely. We ship test kits all over the world*, and can likely ship to you too, as long as you have a physical address (sorry, we cannot ship to a P.O. Box).

Q: How long will it take to get my results?
A: Results typically arrive within 2-3 weeks of receipt of your kit at the lab. Once the results are verified, the lab will notify us via email, and then we’ll contact you to set up your strategy session to review them. Please give us 3 weeks from the date the lab receives your test kit to contact you.
Q: Will my insurance pay for the testing?
A: As nutritionists, we are unable, by law, to provide coding or submit insurance claims on your behalf (which is why we can keep the costs of our testing so low). This is why we do require full payment up front. There may be options for you through your individual insurance provider (check directly with them for more info) or to deduct the costs of your tests via a Health Savings Account (HSA) through the US government. Q: Can my doctor do this test?
A: Each doctor’s practice provides different levels of testing. Typically, most do not get involved in nutritional testing.
Q: Why should I do this test? I already visit my doctor once a year to get blood work done.
A: This test is an adjunct to the blood work that your doctor performs. Standard blood work does not look at food sensitivities.
Q: Once I get my results, what will I be able to do about the information?
A: Your assigned Wellness Coach will review the results of your test with you. She will explain what each marker indicates, and her recommendations for repairing any issues that pop up. Whether it’s dietary modification, supplementation, or other lifestyle shifts, you will leave your coaching session with a solution in hand.
Q: What are the qualifications of your Wellness Coaches?
A: All of our Wellness Coaches are trained to interpret test results, provide lifestyle recommendations and coach you toward success. They are degreed nutritionists, certified in my Overcoming Weight Loss Resistance programs, and members of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals. In addition to their nutrition education, each Wellness Coach receives ongoing training at nutrition-oriented workshops and seminars on a consistent basis.
Q: When will I receive my test kit?
A: Once you place your order, your test kit will be drop-shipped to your shipping address right away. They typically show up in 5-7 days, if not sooner.
Q: How do I fill out the test kit requisition?
A: All of the instructions on filling out forms will be provided to you upon placing your order. We’ll even provide you with a sample requisition form for you to follow, just to be sure.
Q: Do I pay for any shipping?
A: Nope. Shipping’s on us.
Q: How will I know when my results are in?
A: Once your lab results are verified, the lab will contact us. Then, we will contact you right away to set up your coaching session.
